SJM Resorts × Macau Art Society | Lantern Art Exhibition Returns Again

2 min read

SJM Resorts is again partnering with the Macau Artist Society for the fourth consecutive year to present the “Culture City of East Asia 2025” Lantern Art Exhibition, celebrating this shared heritage of China, Japan and Korea. Come join us as we gather together to bask in the glow of lanterns bearing blessings of reunion, good fortune, enlightenment, peace and harmony.

Titled “Symbols of Culture and Light: Spreading Joy and Hope Across Borders”, the exhibition honours Macau’s designation as a Culture City of East Asia and its role as a bridge for intercultural exchange. For the display, three acclaimed artists from fellow awardee cities and one local Macau artist have each created a captivating lantern installation inspired by their cultural heritage and artistic discipline.

This year’s exhibition extends beyond visual art, offering immersive cultural experiences and opportunities for public engagement including artist residencies, public workshops, thematic talks, AR-enabled lantern interactions and a special guided lighting tour. Through these interactive and educational encounters, locals and visitors alike can gain a more meaningful appreciation of lantern-marking as an artform rooted in East Asian heritage. Moreover, as a platform for cross-cultural dialogue, the exhibition will enable artists from different cities to connect with the younger generation, share creative perspectives, and contribute to the ongoing integration of culture and tourism in Macau.

This autumn, gain a newfound appreciation for the art of traditional lantern craftmanship with an illuminated celebration of one of East Asia’s beloved traditions.
